DEVELOPING – Thursday Newsfeed: Dasvidaniya, Ukraine…

I will update as more news comes in on this breaking story.

Just the beginning, not the end…

Well, I woke at around 5:30-ish this morning and, as I always do, turned on the news while trying to fall back to sleep. However, once again we see Vlad Putin is pretty close to being a man of his word, as troubling as that is. Russia has invaded Ukraine, and the war is on.

The Ukraine government has issued Martial Law and people are being ordered to stay home, but Ukraine’s roads are jammed with traffic as citizens try to get the Hell out of the country for Poland (which might be on Putin’s shopping list as well). However, as these civilians seek to fill their vehicles gas tanks for the evacuation the traffic jams just might hinder Russian tanks and heavy equipment from advancing deeper into the cities. Hmmm…

Russia is claiming it has taken out the Ukraine military’s air forces. That is tactically what a serious invader would indeed do, if true. And that adds credence to Pres. Trump’s observations of Putin’s military and political cunning. As I said the other day, if you do not see, recognize, and understand your opponent not only will you be unable to fight him/her but you will lose. And it is being said this morning that Putin does not want to ‘occupy’-occupy Ukraine, but force ‘regime change‘ (install a puppet government) and probably define the troops he’d leave there not as ‘occupying’ but remaining behind as “peacekeepers”. Meanwhile, Putin/Russia will join China in moving up the scale of world leaders in the markets and energy production. Meanwhile, the fact remains, Putin is laughing at Biden and his administration this morning.

Glenn Reynolds @ Instapundit:

ANALYSIS: TRUE. Biden lacks Trump’s punch, and Putin knows it. “Whatever you think of Donald Trump, he never would have allowed Vladimir Putin to run circles around him, which is what Putin has done to hapless Joe Biden. And he certainly would not have appeased Putin and given the Russian president everything he asked for from the START treaty to greenlighting Russia’s Nord Stream 2 pipeline, without getting something in return. All Biden got from Putin was grief. Trump is a businessman and that is what businessmen do. They do not give things away without getting something in return. He is also a bully who knows how to deal with other bullies.”

And Vlad is warning the west to keep out, ‘or else’ … insisting we will see some reaction from him the likes of which we’ve never seen/experienced before. I was watching in the 6:00 hour this morning FOX and Friends Pete Hegseth reviewing the maps of Ukraine and the Russian build-up and strategic positioning of the Russian forces along that border (at about the 20:25 mark) to today’s invasion.

Talk of some new horrific weapon Russia has developed and allegedly moved to the border. Well, I’m actually anticipating Putin’s army of cyber-hackers are sitting on the world’s borders ready to make their attack on the world’s banking, business, power-grids, infrastructure systems. THAT is where I would be suspicious, were I a military tactician.

The world markets were crashing (including Russia’s market) and a barrel of oil is up over $100 for the first time since 2014. So, I woke my Hubby and sent him out to fill or cars’ gas tanks around 6am because you know the hike is coming. Even Stuart Varney of FBN is warning the price of gas at the pump will be going up over $4/gal over these next couple days. By this time next week we could be seeing it pushing $5 after Biden piles on more “sanctions” on Russia around noon today (because the sanctions from the other day worked so well in deterring him). Business and economic folks (serious ones unbridled by Green New Deal dementia) are saying Biden could halt the possible apocalypse in energy prices in the U.S. (and possibly the markets) if he would just, basically, return to the previous Trump domestic energy policies that Biden trashed and burned just short hours after taking his first ice cream in the Oval Office. But he will not. His minions who are fully running this country will not allow that to happen. Nope.

A concise mk732 comment from a FNC news post:

The Ukraine inherited a good chunk of the Soviet nuclear arsenal when the Soviet Union dissolved. They gave it up based on security assurances from a Democrat, Bill Clinton. Then along comes the next Democrat, Obama, and they lose the Crimea to Russia. Now the next Democrat is in office and they are about to lose the rest of their country. They are paying a high price indeed for trusting in the integrity of Democrats.
