President Trump responded to recently released entries from Dr. Anthony Fauci on Tuesday, saying he grew tired of the former White House medical adviser.

“He was a much bigger player in the Biden administration. I grew tired of him,” Trump said in an interview with “Fox & Friends.”

“He wanted to close everything down. I allowed it to be up to the governors,” he continued, adding that “many of the Republican governors didn’t want to close.”

Last weekend, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) publicly released over a thousand pages of Fauci’s journal entries.

The former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases wrote in one entry about how he used media appearances to communicate his message on the coronavirus to the public. Fauci also wrote that he found the media attention “flattering” and that Trump’s White House was unhappy with him for receiving attention from the press.

“Apparently the WH is very upset that I am being profiled and it looks like I am putting down the POTUS and becoming a star that outshines him. The press is playing into this as is the tweet storm. Very stressful!!” he wrote.

Fauci will testify before the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee on Wednesday. Paul has consistently pressed for an indictment, claiming the doctor lied under oath about gain-of-function research and the COVID-19 pandemic.
