Christopher Phelan, President Trump’s pick to lead the White House Council of Economic Advisers, will testify before the Senate Housing, Banking and Urban Affairs Committee on Thursday morning for his nomination to lead the key advisory panel.
If confirmed by the Senate, the former University of Minnesota professor would replace Stephen Miran, who stepped down from the role to join the Federal Reserve Board of Governors earlier this year.
The hearing comes at a time when the president is facing declining approval ratings centered on rising inflation and other affordability concerns.
Two other Trump nominees will also face questioning on Thursday.
The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. EDT.
