Variety Future in Focus, presented by Utopai Studios, will bring together leading filmmakers and creative voices at the Toronto International Film Festival. The invite-only event, presented on Sept. 12, will explore how innovation is shaping the art and craft of filmmaking.

James McAvoy will join Variety for a conversation about his work and perspective on the evolving art of storytelling, including his work directing and producing “California Schemin.’” He also stars in the film “Faith,” premiering at TIFF.
