U.S. forces on Sunday launched additional strikes on Iranian targets, as the two sides continue their resumption of hostilities over the Strait of Hormuz.

U.S. Central Command (Centcom) said Sunday evening its forces hit “dozens of targets at multiple locations with precision munitions” in order to “degrade Iran’s ability to continue attacking international shipping” through the Strait of Hormuz.

“CENTCOM forces struck Iranian military air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats using U.S. fighter aircraft, naval vessels, one-way attack aerial drones, and one-way attack sea drones for the first time,” the command added.

The U.S. resumed strikes on Iranian targets earlier this week, after Tehran targeted a trio of commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz on Monday.

Centcom said earlier Sunday it began the latest round of strikes at 5 p.m. EST. The command added on social platform X, “The Commander in Chief has directed the strikes to hold Iranian forces accountable,” referring to President Trump.

After strikes concluded on Sunday evening, Centcom said its forces remain “postured and prepared to ensure that freedom of navigation” in the Strait of Hormuz “remains available to commercial shipping despite Iran’s continued unwarranted aggression, harassment, threats, and arbitrary declarations.”

Across two rounds of strikes on Tuesday and Wednesday, American forces hit roughly 170 targets, according to Centcom. U.S. forces also hit roughly 140 Iranian military targets on Saturday, as Centcom noted they used precision munitions launched by land- and sea-based fighter aircraft, drones and naval vessels.

The U.S. military hit Iranian missile and drone sites, naval capabilities, ammunition storage facilities, communication networks and coastal surveillance locations on Saturday, according to Centcom.

After U.S. forces launched their latest round of strikes on Sunday, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran said it launched a new wave of missile and drone attacks toward American bases in the Middle East, CNN reported.

The IRGC launched strikes on U.S. bases in the region earlier this week, drawing condemnation from multiple Arab nations where attacks took place.

As the conflict continues, the cost of the war for the U.S. is rising. Kent Smetters, the Boettner Chair Professor at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, told The Hill the cost of the war from the end of February though April alone was roughly $45 billion.

The White House has also requested $87.6 billion in supplemental funding from Congress, some of which will cover the cost of stockpile replacements and troop deployments in the Centcom theater.
