President Trump announced Friday that he has pardoned several people convicted in federal vehicle emissions cases and is reportedly considering pardons for celebrities, including for rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs.

The president has not made a decision on Combs or other high-profile clemency requests, but he has discussed them privately in recent days, sources familiar with the matter told CBS News.

The White House did not immediately confirm whether Combs is under consideration.

Trump said he signed pardons for six people Friday who were convicted of emissions violations tied to the Clean Air Act.

Trump described the people as victims of political persecution.

“It is my Great Honor to have just signed Pardons for six people who were persecuted by the Biden Administration, and were in, or being sent to, prison, for ‘fixing their car,’” he wrote on Truth Social

“While I know this sounds ridiculous, it is nevertheless a fact, and part of the Weaponization and Stupidity that our Country had to endure during four long years of Sleepy Joe Biden,” he added. “I AM SETTING THEM ALL FREE, RIGHT NOW!”

Combs and other celebrities requesting clemency were not part of the slate of people who received pardons Friday.

Combs is serving a four-year sentence in a federal prison in New Jersey after he was convicted last year of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

His more serious charges against him, including sex trafficking and racketeering, garnered nationwide media attention in what became a high-profile criminal case. The rapper was acquitted on the more serious charges.

Trump told The New York Times in January that Combs had written a letter to him seeking a pardon.

Combs is not the only celebrity lobbying for clemency. Trump is reportedly weighing a pardon for Pras Michel, the Grammy award-winning member of the Fugees who was convicted in a foreign lobbying case.
