President Trump late Saturday said he was halting an attack plan against Iran and pointed to the outline of a deal being reached as the reason why.

“The U.S.A. is locked and loaded and ready to go against the Islamic Republic of Iran, at levels of Military Terror, Strength, and Power not seen since World War II. Despite this, we have just been asked by Iran, and other Middle Eastern Countries, to hold off any attack in that the perimeters of a deal has been agreed to,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

Trump added that the deal “would include the Immediate, Complete, and Total OPENING OF THE HORMUZ STRAIT, and an end to Iran’s nuclear threat.”

“Based on this request, I have agreed, for the future benefit of the WORLD and, likewise, the survival of a successful and prosperous Iran, to cancel the attack, subject to being able to rapidly make a DEAL,” he added.

American officials had told several outlets on Friday that the U.S. was reportedly planning to restart strikes targeting Iran as soon as this weekend.

Israel was also a part of plans to launch “one of the harshest bombing campaigns to date” targeting Iranian energy infrastructure targets, multiple sources told CBS News. Both the Israeli and U.S. militaries came together to launch the first strikes in the conflict in February.

The war with Iran recently passed the five-month mark, with the conflict putting stress on the global economy, causing oil and gas prices to rise, straining U.S. relationships with historic allies and proving unpopular with the American public in recent polling.

According to AAA, the average price of a gallon of regular gas in the U.S. was at about $4.10 as of early Sunday, up from about $3.15 last year.
