(NewsNation) — U.S. agencies have seized over 600 drones flying near World Cup venues since the tournament began June 11.

The Transportation Security Administration announced the tally Monday, with the FBI saying that drones have been seized across all 11 host cities.

According to news reports, 98 drones were captured in Miami, 77 in Atlanta, 48 in Los Angeles, 29 in Seattle, 63 in Dallas, 40 in New York City, 33 in Houston and 32 in Kansas City, Mo.

The Federal Aviation Administration imposed temporary flight restrictions around stadiums and related game-watching sites to ensure security for the games. The limits apply three hours before and after a scheduled game.

Violations can result in civil fines up to $75,000, criminal fines up to $100,000 and up to a year in prison, along with the seizure of any drones involved.

While exact security protocols have been kept under wraps, the FBI has deployed advanced teams and technology to monitor airspace and intercept unauthorized drones.

Ahead of the games, federal agencies worked to train local law enforcement on those tools to keep athletes and spectators secure.
