As brands push further into entertainment in pursuit of standing out in a marketplace with more content than ever, the digital commerce platform DoorDash is turning to an old entertainment hand to help it do so.

DoorDash has tapped WME to be its entertainment agency of record as it continues to pursue cultural marketing efforts. WME’s Entertainment Marketing & Advisory (EM&A) group will help the company forge deeper relationships with Hollywood.

Brands like DoorDash are not only turning to celebrities for TV commercials and brand campaigns, but also increasingly creating content (typically in coordination with agencies and production companies) that can stand out on its own. While brands have long had agencies of record in the ad space, WME is betting that its Hollywood relationships can help it continue building out that line of business.

“At a time when attention is fragmented across platforms and consumers have more choices than ever, the brands that truly resonate are the ones that are able to spark conversation and create culture,” said Liz Walaszczyk, head of Entertainment Marketing & Advisory at WME. “DoorDash has long been a market leader in this space, and we’re excited to work together to build creative entertainment collaborations that challenge convention and convert consumers into engaged audiences.”

“The best partnerships don’t interrupt culture, they become part of it,” adds Ariel Gambardella, head of global brand partnerships, events & hospitality at DoorDash. “Entertainment is one of the fastest ways to build relevance with consumers, and this collaboration helps us show up in the moments and communities that matter most. WME’s unmatched strategic expertise makes them the perfect partner as we scale our entertainment strategy and deepen our connection with more audiences.”
