Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio took a couple of shots at Dr. Anthony Fauci over his repeated use of the Fifth Amendment during a Senate hearing on Wednesday.

“I’m gonna be like Fauci and just take the Fifth Amendment on all questions,” Fangio said, when a reporter asked whether Marcus Epps had the inside track on the starting safety job.

“Did you guys see that? Oh my god,” Fangio added, grinning and shaking his head.

During the former chief medical adviser’s Wednesday appearance before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, Fauci pleaded the Fifth 111 times amid GOP attacks over his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Democrats on the panel, meanwhile, largely defended the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and slammed the hearing as overtly partisan.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), the chair of the panel, said after the hearing he will push for a committee vote next week on holding Fauci in contempt of Congress.

“We believe that with his … immunity from criminal liability, that he didn’t need to hide behind the Fifth Amendment and that maybe the Fifth Amendment doesn’t attach when you have a pardon in place,” Paul told reporters, referring to the preemptive pardon Fauci received from former President Biden in January 2025.

Later in his press conference, Fangio again poked fun at Fauci, after telling a reporter he should have asked Eagles general manager Howie Roseman a day prior about whether there’s any chance that Brandon Graham could be brought back as outside linebacker Jonathan Greenard deals with a pectoral strain.

When the reporter said he did ask Roseman about that, Fangio replied, “And what he’d say? He ducked you? He Faucied you?” to laughs from the press.

The Eagles started training camp on Tuesday and will open the regular season on Sept. 13 at home against the Washington Commanders.
