Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) on Tuesday lamented the situation his family is in after his daughter accused Rep. Max Miller (R-Ohio) of abuse

“I hope you guys understand — maybe I hope you never have to understand — what my daughter’s been through, what my daughter’s going through, what my wife is going through, what my… two boys and my other daughter are going through,” Moreno told reporters on Capitol Hill, according to footage TMZ captured.

“This is truly the seventh level of hell,” Moreno added. “This has been a horrific experience for my entire family.”

Miller’s ex-wife, Emily Moreno, has accused Miller of throwing hot water at her, holding a gun to her head and breaking their two-year-old daughter’s collarbone.

Miller has repeatedly denied the allegations, and sued Emily Moreno for defamation in May. On Tuesday, the two-term congressman said he will ask the House Ethics Committee to investigate his ex-wife’s allegations and provide the panel with “all necessary documents” it needs.

“In light of all the renewed interest in my family affairs I am going to file my own paperwork for an ethics investigation into myself to clear my name from these horrific attacks on myself and family,” Miller wrote on social platform X. “I have absolutely nothing to hide.”

He later added, “The accusations continue to change, but my facts stay the same. I am looking forward to my colleagues reading everything for themselves.”

Bernie Moreno had not commented publicly on his daughter’s allegations against Miller until Sunday, when he called on the Ohio representative to resign and “seek professional help to end the clear pattern of abuse he has left in his wake.”

While speaking to reporters on Tuesday, the first-term senator said his daughter asked him to “lower the temperature” and refrain from commenting on the situation. He also elaborated on how she views Miller.

“My daughter lives in constant fear of this man, not like something that’s existential, but deeply in her heart, she fears what this guy is capable of,” Bernie Moreno said. “You can’t… fathom what that makes me feel like, when the dad’s number one job is to protect your kids.”

The senator also said he picked up his granddaughter from Miller at a police station in Bay Village, Ohio, on Sunday because “I don’t know what this guy’s capable of.”

Bernie Moreno added, “This is the level of total and complete depravity.”
