President Trump received a ceremonial welcome, complete with military salutes and a flyover, as he arrived Tuesday in Ankara, Turkey, for a two-day NATO Summit.

He started the visit with a bilateral meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. A potential U.S. sale of F-35 jets to Turkey is expected to be on the agenda.

Trump’s criticism of NATO partners has not withered in his second term, ranging from anger over their lack of help with the conflict in Iran to the familiar strain of how they do not pay their fair share in the alliance.

Back stateside, Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner (D) is under immense pressure to drop his bid in the race against Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine). After sexual assault allegations emerged on Monday, his backing — both in word and financing — quickly unraveled.

Michigan Democratic Senate hopefuls will be on stage for a debate on Tuesday night. The event comes just days after state lawmaker Mallory McMorrow exited the race, leaving Rep. Haley Stevens (D-Mich.) and former Wayne County health director Abdul El-Sayed set to square off.
