According to new data shared with Rolling Stone, Bieber enjoyed an all-time peak in monthly listeners on May 3, with over 140.3 million. That’s a 42 percent increase over the past 24 days, a period that includes the lead-up to his highly anticipated Coachella performance. (As of publication on May 5, Bieber’s numbers are up even more, to just over 141 billion monthly listeners).
The rise to this apex has been steady: As of April 9, just before weekend one of Coachella, Bieber had about 98.8 million monthly listeners on Spotify. By the start of weekend two, he was up to 110.9 million monthly listeners, while three days later, he was at 118.9 million. On April 20, right after Coachella, Bieber had his biggest streaming day ever on Spotify, with over 105 million streams.
Bieber’s Coachella set led to a huge jump in individual song streams across his catalog, but a few old favorites have notably been the biggest gainers. Perhaps most surprising, Bieber and Nicki Minaj’s 2012 collaboration, “Beauty and a Beat,” has been totally revitalized, earning 75.5 million global streams between the two weekends of Coachella (April 10 through 20).
