Jim Goodwin will be missing from Dundee United's dugout against Kilmarnock on Saturday after taking ill and being admitted to hospital on Thursday, the Scottish Premiership club have confirmed.
Assistant Lee Sharp took first-team training at United's St Andrews base on Friday and also assumed pre-match media duties in 44-year-old Goodwin's absence.
He could not say at the time whether the Irishman would return for the trip to Rugby Park.
But the club have now stated on X: "Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin will not be in attendance at today's fixture versus Kilmarnock as he continues to deal with an ongoing medical matter.

"The manager would like to thank everyone for their kind wishes and comments over the last 24 hours.
"The club would ask that his privacy, and that of his family, is respected at this time.
"We do not intend to provide any further medical detail and will issue an update when appropriate."
United have one point after three Premiership matches, while Saturday's opponents are yet to register a point this term after two games.
Sharp had said on Friday: "He is OK. I spoke to him last night and I spoke to him again this morning and he was in good spirits.
"I don't really know much to be honest. I just asked him how he was and he just said they took him in yesterday and he felt unwell and they are keeping him in for observation."
