Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) on Monday joined another prominent ex-supporter of President Trump in pulling back their support for the Republican Party.
Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson said he “would not support” the GOP following his split with the Trump administration over the U.S. military operations against Iran.
“Tucker is not the only one who is done supporting the Republican Party,” Greene wrote in a social media post.
“There is A LOT of us that are absolutely fed up and will not support a party that betrays its voters and country,” she continued. “That does not mean we are turning into Democrats either. But we are DONE with the America LAST Republican Party.”
Carlson told the “Can’t Be Censored” podcast he would not support Republicans or vote for them in the upcoming midterm elections, citing his disagreement with the administration’s handling of the Iran war.
“I’m out,” he said. “And if I’m out, then I think a lot of other people are out, too.”
Greene has similarly taken steps to distance herself from the White House since her departure from Congress earlier this year amid schisms with the president over foreign conflicts and his handling of the Epstein files.
She called for the president to be removed from office through the 25th Amendment after he said a “whole civilization will die tonight” if Iran did not meet the U.S.’s demands to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
The former Georgia lawmaker told Politico in April she was unsure whether she still considered herself a member of the Republican Party.
“I don’t really know if I do consider myself one right now,” Greene said at the time. “I would say I’m definitely leaning more calling myself an independent. … I haven’t changed yet. But I will probably think pretty deeply about doing that.”
