George Michael performing in Paris in 1988. Michael Putland* George Michael wows a Parisian crowd with some of his biggest hits in the official trailer for the pop star’s posthumous concert film, George Michael: The Faith Tour.
The new clip offers one of the best looks yet at the previously unreleased, and restored, footage of Michael’s two shows at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy (now the Accor Arena) during the European leg of the singer’s 1988 Faith Tour. At that point, Michael was hitting new heights as a solo artist following the release of his blockbuster debut Faith the year before.
The trailer fittingly begins with a snippet of Michael performing “Careless Whisper,” technically a song from his Wham! days, but one that helped pave the way for his move to solo superstardom. The clip then features a trio of Faith smashes like “Father Figure,” “I Want Your Sex,” and, of course, the album’s title track.
“I suppose what ‘faith’meant to me was that life was still gonna deliver,” Michael says in an archival interview included in the clip.
