Democratic Sen. John Fetterman (Pa.) on Wednesday mocked comedian Larry David for calling the UFC fights at the White House “embarrassing.”

When TMZ’s Jacob Wasserman asked Fetterman how he would respond to David, the Pennsylvania Democrat replied, “I’d say lighten up, Francis.”

While Wasserman sounded as though he did not understand the reference, Fetterman was quoting the 1981 film “Stripes,” during which Sergeant Hulka, played by Warren Oates, tells Francis “Psycho” Soyer, played by Conrad Dunn, to “lighten up.”

David on Tuesday said the “UFC Freedom 250” event on the White House lawn earlier this month made him “embarrassed to be an American.” The event took place on President Trump’s birthday.

The “Seinfeld” co-creator told Variety, “What else can you say about it? It was embarrassing, you know?” at the premiere of his sketch HBO series “Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness: An Almost History of America.”

David, who played a comedic version of himself on “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” developed his latest series with assistance from Higher Ground, former President Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama’s production company.

The 78-year-old comedian has often criticized Trump and his MAGA movement.

In one “Curb Your Enthusiasm” episode, he goes around Los Angeles wearing a red MAGA hat to avoid interacting with people. In the first episode of the show’s final season, David spoofed Trump’s mugshot in Fulton County, Ga.

But Fetterman, who has defended the Trump administration on certain policies — including the Iran war and the construction of the White House ballroom — said David should “get over” himself.

“I’m proud to be American, and if you are embarrassed or whatever because of a UFC thing, get over yourself dude,” he said, before walking into an elevator.

“Like seriously, get over yourself dude,” the Pennsylvania senator repeated from the elevator.
