The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating a close call between two commercial planes that occurred at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) on Saturday.

The crew of Delta Air Lines Flight 2351 executed a go-around, or aborted landing, because an American Airlines flight was departing from an intersecting runway, according to the FAA. The incident occurred at roughly 11:30 a.m. EDT.

Go-arounds are safe, routine procedures pilots or air traffic controllers perform at their discretion to maintain safe operation, according to the FAA.

The Delta flight, an Airbus 319, was en route from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to Boston. The jet had 129 passengers and six crew on board, according to Delta.

The flight crew received an advisory from onboard systems of potential traffic, coordinated with air traffic control, and performed a go-around, a spokesperson said in a statement. The flight landed safely and deplaned normally, the spokesperson noted.

The Delta flight departed DFW at 7:24 a.m. CDT and landed at BOS at 11:45 a.m. EDT, according to data from Flightradar24

American Airlines Flight 3161, meanwhile, departed Boston at 11:34 a.m. EDT and landed at Charlotte Douglas International at 1:30 p.m. EDT, according to Flightradar24

American Airlines referred The Hill to the FAA for comment.
