Isaac Reyes* Daddy Yankee is back with a star-studded new album. The Puerto Rican icon’s La Postal boasts features from Cardi B, Diljit Dosanjh, Bizarrap, and more as he pushes reggaeton into a more romantic direction.
“[La Postal is] a postcard written in 15 songs, where you’ll find love in all its forms: the real one, the fake one, the love that stays, the love that leaves, the love that’s celebrated, the love that hurts, and the love that holds us together,” he shared in an Instagram post about the album.
The reggaeton pioneer is known for helping the genre achieve mainstream success with his breakthrough single, 2004’s “Gasolina.” After nearly two decades on top, he announced that he was retiring in 2022 following the conclusion of La Última Vuelta World Tour. At the same time, Daddy Yankee revealed that he was dedicating his life to God. Those Christian values were reflected in last year’s Lamento En Baile. Now with La Postal, Daddy Yankee is making reggaeton that’s more secular but still catchy.
