A second boy, 16, was also charged in relation to the stabbing death of a 30-year-old man in Mt Druitt

A thirteen-year-old boy has been charged with murder after a man was stabbed to death in Sydney’s west on Friday.

Emergency services were called to the suburb of Mt Druitt on Friday evening amid reports a man had been assaulted.

Police found the man, aged in his 30s, with stab wounds to his torso.

Paramedics provided assistance to the man, but he died at the scene.

A boy, 13, was arrested on Sunday at Mt Druitt police station and charged with murder, breach of bail and an unrelated offence of robbery.

A second boy, 16, was arrested at a home in Cabramatta later that evening.

He has been charged with murder, accessory after the fact to an offence.

Officials have encouraged anyone with information, including CCTV or dashcam footage, to step forward, saying inquiries continue into the matter.

Supt Brendan Gorman told reporters this weekend detectives were looking into the alleged murder, saying there were about “a dozen people” in the area at the time of the stabbing.

A number of items were seized at the scene, including a bladed instrument.

“At this stage, I would say it’s a horrendous incident and it’s certainly concerning for police,” Gorman said Saturday.

“But again, that will form part of the investigation if it is random, or it is targeted.”

The superintendent added the victim had not been formally identified, but was believed to have “some history” with police.

Both boys were refused bail and will appear before children’s court on Monday.
