A motorcycle used in Sir Christopher Nolan's Oscar-winning 2008 Batman film The Dark Knight is expected to sell for up to £900,000 at auction.

The vehicle is among lots being sold by Hertfordshire-based Propstore online and at Bafta in London from 4 -6 December.

The "Batpod" was featured in a chase scene that included Christian Bale's Batman and Heath Ledger's Joker and it also appeared in the 2012 sequel The Dark Knight Rises.

The prop is predicted to sell for between £450,000 and £900,000.

The Dark Knight was filmed on location in Chicago and Hong Kong, while large indoor sets were built at the airship hangars in Cardington, Bedfordshire.

Bale's complete Batsuit from Batman Begins, the first film in the trilogy, is also for sale, with an estimate of between £125,000 and £250,000.

Propstore founder Stephen Lane described the bike as an "extraordinary feat of filmmaking and engineering"

Items from Indiana Jones's costume in Temple of Doom, including the protagonist's fedora, are being sold at the same auction.

The items came from the collection of stuntman Vic Armstrong, who doubled for Harrison Ford in the first three Indiana Jones films, which were shot at Elstree Studios in Hertfordshire.

They join other items from Game Of Thrones, Superman III and Conan The Barbarian.

Costumes and a whip from the second Indiana Jones movie are also being sold during the auction

Stephen Lane, the founder and CEO of Propstore, described the Batman vehicle as an "extraordinary feat of filmmaking and engineering".

He added: "Bringing together Indiana Jones' fedora, shirt and bullwhip in the same catalog is particularly exciting.

"With the fedora and shirt coming directly from legendary stunt performer Vic Armstrong's personal collection, they also tell the story of the remarkable stunt work behind the adventure."
