The game remains afoot at Prime Video.

The Amazon-owned streamer has renewed Young Sherlock for a second season. The series, starring Hero Fiennes Tiffin as a teenage Sherlock Holmes and executive produced by Guy Ritchie, premiered as a binge release on March 4.

Ritchie, who directed the first two episodes of the season, is set to helm the season two premiere as well. He developed the series with creator Matthew Parkhill.

Young Sherlock has that rare magic — millions of fans around the world aren’t just watching a detective story, they’re falling in love with the origin of an icon,” said Peter Friedlander, head of global television for Amazon MGM Studios. “Guy Ritchie and Matthew Parkhill have cracked the code on making Sherlock’s early years feel fresh, dangerous, and utterly addictive, and have introduced a compelling take on James Moriarty that sets the stage for what’s to come. We can’t wait to see where they take him next in season two.”

Prime Video says 45 million people worldwide watched at least a few minutes of Young Sherlock in its first four weeks of release, putting it in the top 10 for any season of an original series on the streamer. The majority of those viewers (63 percent) come from outside the United States, with high concentrations in the U.K., India and Germany. In the U.S., the show recorded 678 million minutes of viewing in its premiere week, according to Nielsen, but slipped out of the top 10 original streaming series after that.

Young Sherlock also stars Dónal Finn as Sherlock’s future nemesis Moriarty, along with Zine Tseng, Joseph Fiennes, Natascha McElhone, Max Irons and Colin Firth.

Parkhill serves as showrunner on the series and executive produces with Ritchie, Marc Resteghini, Dhana Rivera Gilbert, Simon Maxwell, Ivan Atkinson, Simon Kelton, Colin Wilson and Harriet Creelman. Steve Thompson and James Dormer are co-exec producers. Motive Pictures leads physical production for Young Sherlock.
