Will Ferrell at 2026 Las Culturistas Culture Awards in Los Angeles. Griffin Nagel/NBCUniversal Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers, co-hosts of Las Culturistas podcast, honored Will Ferrell with the Titan of Culture award at their annual Las Culturistas Culture Awards, which Bravo and Peacock broadcasted Wednesday night. And while the awards they give out typically have ironic and sarcastic undertones, this one seemed genuine as Yang described the award as “a title that is achieved by having a decades-long career that has never ever wavered,” adding that Ferrell “invented the comedy that invented our personalities.” But then they showed a slideshow created by the sixth graders of a middle school.
Ferrell’s appreciation for the award was just as genuine. To people wondering how he became a “Titan of Culture,” he offered up this advice in his acceptance speech: “Be proud of yourself.” “I think we should all celebrate our pride,” he said. But then, it took a sharp turn: “For example, I have pride about being an actor and a filmmaker, but I also have pride about being a husband to a wife. I guess what I’m saying is I’m proud to be straight. God, it feels good to finally say that.” (It’s worth noting that underneath his navy blue suit, instead of a vest jacket, he was wearing black leather-daddy straps.)
His second tip to being a titan was to “be happy, be joyful, be … gay,” which of course was more like it for a speech airing during LGBTQ Pride Month. “Have gay pride,” he said. “Starting this month.” He looked back at Yang and Rogers, who are gay, and they nodded at him. “I hereby declare June, Pride Month,” he said as he produced a Pride flag. “And to celebrate, I made a flag that represents all the things I have gay pride about.”
