Scorecard, Table

West Indies edged closer to the semi-finals of the Women's T20 World Cup despite making hard work of chasing just 99 against Sri Lanka.

The Windies slipped to 70-5 before the experience of veteran Stafanie Taylor calmly got them over the line with 3.5 overs to spare.

Taylor finished with 27 not out to ensure that West Indies remain unbeaten in Group 2, along with England, while the result also eliminates winless Ireland.

Sri Lanka, who are struggling with one win from three, were skittled for 98 in 19.4 overs as Windies skipper Hayley Matthews took 3-15.

Player of the match Matthews took all her wickets in the first three overs as Sri Lanka slumped to 9-3, including captain Chamari Athapaththu being dismissed for two.

Kavisha Dilhari made 21 and Nilakshi de Silva scored 30 as Sri Lanka gradually rebuilt but Matthews was backed up by a fine all-round performance, with a wicket apiece for the other four bowlers.

De Silva struggled for support from elsewhere as their reliance on Athapaththu was evident once more.

West Indies next face England on Wednesday (18:30 BST), where the winner will book their place in the semis.
