Tom Holland and Zendaya 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' YouTube/Sony Pictures Releasing Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man is back in action in the first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The film, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, hits theaters this summer and marks Holland’s fourth solo outing as the web-flinging superhero.
In the clip, Peter Parker is faced with the new reality that his pals Ned (Jacob Batalon) and MJ (Zendaya) have forgotten their histories with him. He is also dealing with the possibility that his spider DNA is “mutating.” The trailer sees Parker seeking help from Dr. Bruce Banner, a.k.a. the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo).
Spider-Man: Brand New Day has teased several villains, some of whom can be glimpsed in the trailer. Spider-Man fights Punisher (Jon Bernthal) and Scorpion (Michael Mando), and other threats seem to be on the horizon.
The official synopsis notes, “Four years have passed since the events of No Way Home, and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves. Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he’s devoted himself entirely to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.”
