The Senate is gearing up for a busy day of votes on Friday as lawmakers try to clear their legislative to-do list before leaving Washington for the August recess.
The chamber is expected to take up a series of nominations, including acting Attorney General Todd Blanche’s bid to formally lead the Justice Department. Blanche’s nomination to the full-time position has faced delays amid concerns from some Republicans.
The upper chamber of Congress is also set to consider the late Sen. Lindsey Graham’s (R-S.C.) Russia sanctions legislation, along with a series of votes tied a continuing resolution to fund the government and the Protect College Sports Act.
Despite pressure from President Trump, notably absent from the slate is the SAVE America Act voter ID bill.
The first set of votes are scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. EDT.
