Health experts on Tuesday morning will testify before the Senate Budget Committee on Medicaid, just months after the Trump administration issued a new rule requiring states to implement work requirements before approving residents for the low-income insurance program.
The long-anticipated update guides 42 states and the District of Columbia in carrying out the work rules implemented by President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Republican lawmakers and health officials have billed the policy as a way to combat waste, fraud and abuse in the program — but it has faced scrutiny.
Tuesday’s hearing also comes as the administration has moved to end premium Medicare subsidies implemented under the Biden administration, alleging the program benefited insurance companies more than enrollees.
The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. EDT.
