House Democratic leaders will give remarks Wednesday morning in the wake of New York’s primaries, when two hopefuls backed by Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) were defeated by more progressive candidates.
The victors were backed by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D), a democratic socialist, and have shown a growing rift between the party’s establishment and those further left.
The press conference also comes after the Senate passed a war powers resolution to curb President Trump’s military operation in Iran, more than two weeks after the House advanced its own measure.
The event is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. EDT.
