House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) and fellow Democrats will hold a forum on election threats Thursday afternoon as the party looks ahead to the 2026 midterms.
The lawmakers are likely to discuss concerns over voting access and GOP-backed reform proposals, including President Trump’s SAVE America Act — which would require proof of citizenship for voter registration. The press conference also comes after the courts struck down the president’s March executive order seeking to overhaul elections and the mail-in ballot system by asking states to compile and share voter lists shared with the U.S. Postal Service.
Democrats have also pushed back on the administration’s suggestion that federal immigration officials could patrol polling places.
