An explosion occurred at a fireworks factory in Naxxar, Malta on Monday, local authorities confirmed.
Two men, who had been in nearby fields at the time of the incident, were taken to hospital with minor injuries while all licensed workers connected to the premises have since been accounted for with none having been on site at the time, the Malta Police Force said.
Large plumes of smoke could be seen rising towards the sky following the sound of explosions.
An inquiry is being conducted and Prime Minister Robert Abela said his thoughts were with those affected.
