Chvrches singer Lauren Mayberry C Brandon/Redferns On Friday night Chvrches performed together for the first time in nearly three years and took the opportunity to showcase a new song, “Conman.” The group appeared as part of Robert Smith’s Teenage Cancer Trust’s Royal Albert Hall concert series, which also featured Garbage, My Bloody Valentine, and Elbow.
“I promise I’m not just inside watching telly all the time, we have been making a record,” singer Lauren Mayberry told the audience. “And we thought, since this is a special night, we would play something off that record for you guys. So be kind to us, we’ve never played this in front of human beings before.”
Chvrches’ last album, Screen Violence, arrived in 2021. Last summer the group confirmed they have been working on new music, although they haven’t shared any details about a potential release date.
