One of the most popular items at collectibles site Fanatics, meantime, is an autographed baseball from Venezuela outfielder (and Atlanta Braves star) Ronald Acuña Jr.

You can see more Team Venezuela World Baseball Classic merch — including trading cards, pins, posters and coins at Fanatics.com. All of the pieces are destined to be cherished collector’s items, made especially more meaningful as Venezuela deals with an uncertain political climate. As the country seemingly enters an era of protest, many say the baseball team’s victory over the U.S. represents more than just sports: it could also be a turning point in how Americans — and the world — views the “Land of Grace” moving forward.
The South American country defeated the U.S. by a score of 3-2 in Tuesday night’s WBC title game, with closer (and Chicago Cubs star) Daniel Palencia finishing off Team USA’s Roman Anthony in the ninth to seal the victory. Per social media, Palencia’s game-worn spikes, which featured a drawing of Venezuela’s iconic “Monumento al Mango,” will be sent to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. Suárez, meantime, is donating the batting gloves that he wore during the title game — and his pivotal ninth-inning at-bat — to the Hall.
It’s a moment that will be replayed forever in Venezuela. The cleats Daniel Palencia wore to close out the @WBCBaseball championship will be preserved at the Hall of Fame. #WorldBaseballClassic pic.twitter.com/RbyehNnINf

This was the first WBC win for Venezuela, who beat Japan in the quarterfinals and a surprisingly strong Italian team in the semis to get to the title game. The U.S. narrowly beat the Dominican Republic 2-1 to reach the final, and was looking for its second title after winning in 2017.
