Former Fox News pundit Tucker Carlson is fanning chatter he might consider a run for the White House with a new video laying out what he sees as wrong with the United States and outlining his plan to fix it.

During the more than hourlong video, Carlson, who today owns his own media company and frequently hosts right wing guests and controversial figures on a semi-regular podcast, derided the current two-party system, which he argued has failed American voters.

Carlson accused the federal government and leaders in both parties of “lying” to U.S. citizens and prioritizing undocumented immigrant rights over those of people born in the country.

He pitched an America he called more “optimistic” with leaders who “say the truth out loud” more frequently.

“Somebody needs to begin work immediately on one question which is what unites all of us,” Carlson said toward the end of his video. “It’s probably not gonna be that hard. Because most of the divisions we think are irreparable are artificial.”

The things that divide Americans, Carlson added, “were foisted on us by our leaders.”

“Both parties have colluded against the population to make their lives better and our lives worse,” he said. “So if you’re going to fix it and rebuild this country … you’re going to need to do something about the pressing question of American identity. It’s fixable. You just have to try, and we will be trying.”

A popular commentator on the political right for years, Carlson has brushed away suggestions he could run for president in previous election cycles.

A former ally of President Trump and longtime critic of Democrats, the pundit broke with the president this year over the Iran war, which Carlson said is being influenced by Israel and hurting Americans.
