President Trump on Monday endorsed seven Republicans seeking election to the House for the first time, as the GOP clings to a narrow majority in the lower chamber ahead of the midterms.

In a slew of posts on Truth Social, Trump threw his support behind John Cowan in Georgia’s 11th Congressional District, Anthony DiLorenzo in New Hampshire’s 1st Congressional District, Jeanine Driscoll in New York’s 4th Congressional District, Jenny Honneycutt in South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District, Barb Regnitz in Indiana’s 1st Congressional District, Brent Taylor in Tennessee’s 9th Congressional District and Steve Toth in Texas’s 2nd Congressional District.

Five of the candidates have already clinched the GOP nomination in their respective districts, with Taylor and DiLorenzo facing primaries in August and September, respectively.

Toth is the lone endorsee who knocked off a sitting member of Congress in his primary, as the Texas state representative defeated Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) in March by roughly 15 points

Three of the candidates the president backed — Cowan, Taylor and Toth — are running in races the nonpartisan Cook Political Report (CPR) rates as solidly in the GOP camp.

Taylor is running in a district, represented by Democratic Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.), that Republicans in the Tennessee General Assembly redrew earlier this year to give the GOP a pickup opportunity. After the state legislature redrew his district, Cohen dropped his bid for an 11th term in the House.

Honeycutt, meanwhile, is running against Democrat Nancy Lacore in the race to succeed outgoing Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.). The CPR says the Republican is “likely” to win in November.

DiLorenzo and Regnitz are running in races the CPR rates as “likely” to be won by Democrats, while Driscoll is challenging first-term Rep. Laura Gillen (D-N.Y.) in a race the CPR projects as a Democratic lean.

Republicans hold a 218-212 edge in the House, and independent Rep. Kevin Kiley (Calif.) caucuses with the GOP. But of the four vacated seats in the lower chamber, three were held by Democrats.

When the House is at full strength, Republicans will hold a 220-215 edge. That means Democrats will have to flip six seats to retake control of the lower chamber after four years in the minority — a challenging quest given the nationwide redistricting battle that played out over the last year.
