Teatro Tivoli along Lisbon's Avenue da Liberdade Tribeca Festival Lisboa Tribeca Festival has extended its partnership with Impresa Group to stage Tribeca Festival Lisboa in Lisbon, Portugal for another three years to 2028.
Tribeca’s Portuguese indie film showcase, in its third edition set to run Dec. 9 to 13, 2026, will also see a move from Lisbon’s Beato Innovation District to the Avenida da Liberdade, the city’s tree-lined Champs-Elysees. That gets the Tribeca collaboration with Portugal’s media players and filmmakers into the heart of Lisbon and filling movies theaters and cultural venues like Cinema São Jorge, Teatro Tivoli and Capitólio.

The deal extension with Impresa also expands Tribeca’s efforts to bridge a transatlantic rift between the U.S. and Europe with a mix of indie and local Portuguese film titles to take cinema in new directions in Lisbon.

Tribeca Festival Lisboa “At a time when the world can feel increasingly divided, storytelling remains one of the most powerful ways to connect people across cultures and experiences,” Jane Rosenthal, co-founder of the Tribeca Festival — currently celebrating its 25th anniversary — and co-chair of Tribeca Enterprises said in a statement on Friday. “Tribeca Festival Lisboa was created to deepen those connections — bringing together filmmakers, artists, and audiences from around the world in one of Europe’s great cultural capitals. We’re proud to continue building that future in Lisbon alongside our partners at Impresa.”
Tribeca Festival Lisboa also brings selections from the New York City-based Tribeca Festival for European and Portuguese premieres. Rosenthal and Tribeca co-founder Robert De Niro unveiled the three year extension for the Portugal edition along with Tribeca Enterprises CEO Rebecca Glashow and Francisco Pedro Balsemão, chairman and CEO of Impresa Group, during a Tribeca Festival press conference on Friday.
“Impresa is proud of the renewal of our partnership with Tribeca Enterprises because it represents not only the continuation of a successful project, but also our ambition to grow, innovate, and achieve even greater international visibility, with Portugal and Lisbon acting as a creative platform,” Balsemão said in his own statement.

Tribeca Festival Lisboa New programming for the 2026 edition will include more public events like “Tribeca Night Live,” an evening series featuring music, performances and appearances by Portuguese and international artists. Lisbon mayor Carlos Moedas also lauded the Tribeca Festival Lisboa extension as he looked to the first two years of the local event to boost Portuguese filmmaking, trade and tourism.
“Tribeca Festival Lisboa brings unique opportunities for our artists to showcase their talent and work on an international stage. This is the festival that confirms Lisbon as a global reference point for culture,” Moedas added in a statement.
