Travis Kelce is opening up about how he and Taylor Swift getting married at Madison Square Garden fulfilled a childhood dream.

While speaking at a press conference during Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp ahead of the NFL season in videos shared by online fans, Kelce was asked about getting married at Madison Square Garden to Swift.

“I always told myself that I’d go for a playoff game when the Knicks were rocking and my wife went when I was stuck in a mini training camp so I didn’t get my opportunity to go then. It’s kind of cool to be able to live out my childhood dream of being in that venue, the mecca of all sports venues, being able to get married there,” he said.

He then expressed gratitude to the owners for MSG.

“I can’t thank the owners of MSG enough for allowing us to get an opportunity to do that, knowing that we wanted a private event and everything. So it was perfect.”

Despite being a milestone day and a childhood dream fulfilled, Kelce quipped that the “best part” was the venue’s AC, with the wedding taking place during a heat wave in New York.

“And the AC was cooking baby! That was the best part,” he told reporters.

Elsewhere in the press conference, Kelce described he and Swift’s wedding as “the best night of my life.”

He added, “I appreciate everybody who came out and celebrated [and] had fun with us. It was a crazy night, full of a lot of celebration.”

Last August, Kelce and Swift announced their engagement on Instagram in a joint post, which showed the Kansas City Chiefs player getting on one knee in a rose garden. “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” read the caption, which also featured a photo of Swift showing her massive diamond ring

Ahead of their July 3 wedding, it was reported that the iconic New York City venue, which required street closures and crowd control by the New York City police, was “transformed” with “grass, carpets and canopies.” In the week leading up to the wedding, workers were seen outside of the venue loading equipment, grass and other decor.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said Swift paid the city $160,000 for the permit required for police to have supervise their July 3 wedding. The couple also made $26 million in charitable donations to more than a dozen organizations across the country.

Stars spotted arriving to the July wedding in Midtown Manhattan included Jack Antonoff, Bradley Cooper, Lena Dunham, Selena Gomez, Ed Sheeran, Jessica Chastain, Dakota Johnson and Jason Sudeikis.

Adam Sandler officiated the ceremony. Though Swift didn’t have bridesmaids and Kelce didn’t have groomsmen, her brother Austin Swift was Taylor Swift’s man of honor and Jason Kelce was Travis Kelce’s best man.

Swift wore a custom haute couture gown by Jonathan Anderson of Christian Dior. Kelce also wore a haute couture look by Anderson for Dior.

Swift and Kelce have yet to publicly share photos from the wedding.
