Just like the broader fashion world, ski and snowboard clothing has seen a return to early Oughts styles in recent years, with baggy pants, graphic hoodies, and tees slowly replacing minimal, tech-y gear. Now, that style has reached the sport’s summit. The North Face was just announced as the Official Performance Apparel Partner of U.S. Ski & Snowboard, bringing its signature streetwear-inspired look to the next two Winter Olympics.

We won’t see The North Face’s U.S. Ski & Snowboard kits on Olympic athletes until the 2030 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in the French Alps, but a commercially available collection inspired by the USSS gear will hit shelves in the fall of this year. The large collection includes hoodies, T-shirts, and even specialized bags for all your snow gear.

“The North Face is synonymous with innovation, performance, and a deep respect for the mountains, which are values that align perfectly with U.S. Ski & Snowboard,” said Sophie Goldschmidt, President and CEO of U.S. Ski & Snowboard, in a release. “This partnership is about more than outerwear; it’s about equipping our athletes with world-class gear that supports them from training to competition as we build toward 2030 and 2034.”

Although The North Face x USSS styles feature throwback style elements, the technology is very much in the present. The athletes’ pieces feature TNF’s innovative tech like breathable, waterproof Futurelight and DryVent fabrics, ultra-light Cloud Down insulation, and technical Futurefleece.

“As a brand forged by those who push the boundaries of human potential, we are proud to provide current and future generations of ski and snowboard legends with The North Face as they train and compete on the world stage,” said Dennis Seydel, Chief Marketing Officer at The North Face.

Although we’ll have to wait to shop The North Face’s Olympic gear, much of the brand’s tech that will be helping U.S. athletes achieve greatness later is already available from TNF. Here are some standout pieces from The North Face to shop right now.

This Breithorn puffer has been one of my go-tos during chilly spring days when I don’t really know what temperature to dress for. But it’s really at home on the mountain under a ski jacket thanks to its weight (or lack thereof) and fitted, athletic cut. But don’t let the slimness fool you: It boasts water-repellent 800-fill ProDown that can handle serious cold, snow, and rain.

I recently tested a few trail running shoes from The North Face, including these fantastic Altamesa 500 V2s. And I’ll be honest, I had no idea TNF made such great trail running shoes. The Altamesa 500 V2s are the best pick if you’re transitioning from road to trail, which I’m typically doing to reach the trail head. They’re very comfy thanks to TNF’s new DREAM midsole foam, but they’re still lively and responsive enough to feel the terrain.

Another one of my favorite pieces from TNF is this Summit Series Futurefleece hoodie. I used it as a baselayer during ski season, but have used it even more for running this spring. The super-light layer does a fantastic job of staying dry after I start to sweat, and the full zip comes in handy for venting toward the end of the run (be it a jog or a ski resort run).

This graphic tee from TNF’s spring collection features the same kind of throwback vibe that they’re showcasing in the USSS consumer collection. On the back is a colorful abstract graphic with the brand’s founding date and slogan woven in, and on the front is a minimal logo.

If you’re heading on any weekend trips this summer, this Base Camp Voyager duffel is a great companion. It’s on the small side at 42L and features backpack straps, which means you can use it as a daybag as well as a weekender. There’s also a dedicated shoe pocket and, as expected from TNF, it’s extra durable and water repellent.
