‘The Agency’ Season 2 Trailer: Trust No One. Not Even Richard Gere

If I tell you Michael Fassbender is a traitor, it’s the truth. He betrayed his country. Did he cause harm? Yes. He lied to his friends, his colleagues. He sacrificed people. He deserves his fate. And if he had to do it again, he wouldn’t hesitate — so says CIA agent Martian (Fassbender) in the trailer for The Agency season two (below).

The 10-episode sophomore season of the Paramount+ series, a collaboration between Paramount Television Studios and David Glasser’s 101 Studios, premieres on Sunday, June 21. This summer is shaping up to be a doozy.

“Betrayed, compromised and haunted by the woman he couldn’t save,” Martian’s “world unravels as a mole hunt plunges London Station into chaos,” the season two description reads.

Covert wars collide from Tehran to Africa, it continues, and “every move risks igniting a global firestorm. When loyalties fracture, the truth becomes a weapon — and Martian’s only way out is deeper in.”

Don’t you hate when that happens?

In addition to Fassbender, The Agency also stars Richard Gere, Jeffrey Wright, Jodie Turner-Smith and Katherine Waterston.

Fassbender (the guy who played Steve Jobs in Steve Jobs) is also among its many executive producers, as is George Clooney. Jez Butterworth and his brother John-Henry Butterworth executive produce, as do Ron Burkle, David Hutkin and Bob Yari (for 101 Studios), Grant Heslov (for Smokehouse Pictures), Alex Berger (for TOP — The Originals Productions), Ashley Stern and Pascal Breton (for Federation Studios/Federation Entertainment of America), and Joe Wright and Keith Cox.
