HBO Max has released the trailer for “Stuart Fails to Save the Universe,” premiering July 23. The 10-episode show was created as a spin-off to the hit “Big Bang Theory,” and episodes will be released weekly on Thursdays. Per the logline, “comic bookstore owner Stuart Bloom is tasked with restoring reality after he breaks a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, accidentally bringing about a multiverse Armageddon. Stuart is aided in this quest by his girlfriend Denise, geologist friend Bert, and quantum physicist/all-around pain in the ass Barry Kripke. Along the way, they meet alternate-universe versions of characters we’ve come to know and love from ‘The Big Bang Theory.’ As the title implies, things don’t go well.” The series stars Kevin Sussman as Stuart, Lauren Lapkus as Denise, Brian Posehn as Bert, and John Ross Bowie as Kripke. The show was originally announced as being in development back in April 2023 and is co-created by Chuck Lorre, Zak Penn, and Bill Prady. The series is produced by Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, where Lorre is under an overall deal. “Stuart Fails to Save the Universe” is written and executive-produced by Lorre, Penn, and Prady. Kyle Newacheck is also executive producer and directed multiple episodes. The series features original theme music by Emmy and Grammy Award winner, Danny Elfman, best known for his work on various Tim Burton films such as “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and “Corpse Bride.” “Stuart Fails to Save the Universe” is the fourth show set in the “Big Bang Theory” universe. Aside from the namesake show, which ran for 12 seasons on CBS, its prequel series “Young Sheldon” completed a seven-season run in May 2024. A spinoff of that show, “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage”, starring Montana Jordan and Emily Osment, debuted on CBS in October 2024. Watch the trailer below.
