Diego Luna as Cassian Andor in Disney+’s Andor Des Willie/Lucasfilm/Disney+ Logo text Which Star Wars movies and TV shows are the most popular on streaming? Some new data from Nielsen reveals some surprising results.
For May the Fourth, a.k.a. “Star Wars Day”, Nielsen released a breakdown analyzing the popularity of Star Wars titles on Disney+ (which is the franchise’s primary hub).
The first thing that stands out is that the biggest chunk of viewing time, 44 percent, were fans watching live-action Star Wars movies compared to 39 percent watching live-action series and 17 percent watching animated shows. So despite literally hundreds of hours of Star Wars TV shows existing, the 11 films generated an outsized share of viewing.

The most-streamed title in 2025 was Andor and its 18 episodes. This is not too surprising, however, since the acclaimed drama’s second season debuted last spring (another title that dropped new episodes last year, the animated series Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld, also made the list at No. 9).
What’s a bit more surprising is that even when the analysis window was changed to the first quarter of this year, Andor was still the most-streamed Star Wars show among two major demographics — Millennials (ages 30-45) and Gen X (ages 46 to 61). Disney+’s first Star Wars show, The Mandalorian, was most-streamed among two interestingly divergent groups, Gen Alpha (ages 2 to 13) and Boomers (ages 62-80). Gen Z (ages 14 to 29) had a different choice than the other groups, preferring Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series.
Going back to the Top 10 favorites of 2025, the rest of the list was almost entirely populated by movies. Interestingly, not one title from the oft-debated sequel trilogy made the list — even though 2015’s The Force Awakens stands as the biggest U.S. domestic box office champ of all time, having made nearly $1 billion.
10 Most Streamed Star Wars Titles May 2025 Courtesy of Nielson After Andor, the rest of the Top 10 went like this: Star Wars: A New Hope, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. (Then Underworld and The Clone Wars shows at No. 9 and 10). So the original trilogy and the prequel trilogy seem pretty evenly balanced here despite critics and many vocal fans preferring the original.
The numbers come as Disney prepares to release the first Star Wars film in seven years with The Mandalorian sequel film The Mandalorian & Grogu, which opens May 22.
