Toronto and parts of southern Ontario, Canada, were hit by powerful thunderstorms bringing torrential rain, large hail and damaging winds. The storms caused flooding, downed trees and widespread power outages across the Greater Toronto Area, with thousands of people affected. Videos shared from across the region showed streets overwhelmed by rain and hailstones falling heavily in a matter of minutes.
