The current Broadway cast of 'Six.' Joan Marcus Six will play its final performance Jan. 3, 2027 after about five years on Broadway.
The long-running musical, which sees the six wives of Henry VIII compete in a singing competition to see who had it worse, originally began previews in February 2020 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre (now the Lena Horne Theatre) but had to pause its run due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The show then returned in 2021 and opened Oct. 3, 2021.
Written by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, Six won the 2022 Tony Award for best original score and recouped its $5 million capitalization as of December 2022. Attendance and grosses have fallen from the show’s early highs, with the show playing to 50- to 60-percent capacity this spring, but the production has seen a relatively long, healthy run on Broadway, as the 40th longest running show in its history, and its success continues far beyond Broadway, with its ongoing West End show and a tour in the U.K. and Australia, as well as an upcoming U.S. national tour and a tour in China.
The show, which has played internationally and on cruise ships, is also set for a Spanish-language production in Madrid this September.
Throughout its run, Six has employed a rotating cast of six performers, singing each wife’s solo number in different song styles modeled after performers including Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, Alicia Keys and more. The current cast features Khaila Wilcoxon as Catherine of Aragon, Chloe Tucker Caine as Anne Boleyn, Natalie Paris as Jane Seymour, Olivia Donalson as Anna of Cleves, Aimie Atkinson as Katherine Howard and Stephanie Jae Park as Catherine Parr.
The show is produced by Kenny Wax, Wendy and Andy Barnes, George Stiles and Kevin McCollum, co-directed by Lucy Moss and Jamie Armitage and features choreography by Carrie-Anne Ingrouille.
