Focus Features will release a filmed version of Broadway‘s “Six” on the big screen over the summer. It will land in domestic cinemas on Aug. 14.

“Six” imagines the wives of Henry VIII as a pop icons, and the show plays like a concert. This performance was recorded at London’s Vaudeville Theatre with the original West End Queens reprising their roles. Catherine of Aragon (Jarnéia Richard-Noel), Anne Boleyn (Millie O’Connell), Jane Seymour (Natalie Paris), Anna of Cleves (Alexia McIntosh), Katherine Howard (Aimie Atkinson), and Catherine Parr (Maiya Quansah-Breed) star front and center of “Six,” which was written by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss.

The film version of “Six” has already opened at the box office in the United Kingdom and Australia, grossing over $8.5 million combined. It’s a solid tally for a live musical event. “Six” was directed for film by Liz Clare and for the stage by Moss and Jamie Armitage. The film was produced by Kenny Wax, Wendy & Andy Barnes, George Stiles and Dione Orrom.
