Rugby league star turned fundraiser Kevin Sinfield has announced his seventh and final challenge to raise money for motor neurone disease (MND) charities.

Dubbed 7 in 7: The Grand Finale, his latest feat will see him run between Hull and Manchester, visiting all 12 English Super League grounds en route.

Starting on 27 September and finishing at the Super League Grand Final on 3 October, Sinfield, 45, will cover at least 45km (27.9 miles) each day.

Since his first challenge in 2020, he has raised more than £11m for MND causes, inspired by his former team mate Rob Burrow, who died in June 2024 after living with MND for four-and-a-half years.

Speaking to BBC Breakfast about his efforts to date, he said: "Our team have done a wonderful job. I couldn't have done any of it without them, they are so unselfish in the way they've gone about this.

"We couldn't have done this on our own. The money has gone a long way and we're getting closer and closer, but we've got to keep pushing, we've got to try and find a cure."

A spokesperson for Leeds Rhinos said funds raised by the final challenge would be split between the MND Association, the Leeds Hospital Charity, Irish MND Association, the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation, MND Scotland and the Darby Rimmer Foundation.

They said the feat, spanning Yorkshire, Greater Manchester and Merseyside, would visit AMT Headingley, the home of Leeds Rhinos, and would include a "poignant pass" near the home of Burrow in Pontefract.

The club said the challenge would also include extra mile events, allowing people affected by MND to join Sinfield for a mile during each day's run.
