Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) on Monday stated that former Vice President Kamala Harris is “no longer relevant” in response to a video she posted about the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE America) Act.

Fox News host Sean Hannity spoke with Kennedy in an interview about Democrats opposing the SAVE America Act, lambasting them as “radical leftist, totalitarian, socialist Marxists,” before Kennedy pointed to Harris’s remarks.

“No disrespect, but Vice President Harris is no longer relevant. She had a shot and she missed. She can cozy up to the Lulu Lenins all she wants to,” Kennedy said, referring to Russian revolutionary leader Vladimir Lenin. “But she has me confused with somebody who cares what she thinks. I mean, she’s yesterday.”

Harris posted a video to the social platform X criticizing President Trump’s attempts to change how Americans vote by making the SAVE America Act his top legislative priority.

“Obstacles to make it difficult to vote,” she said. “And then you’ve got the states. Nineteen states have already passed laws to make it difficult to vote, and the ones that haven’t passed a law are doing it in practice in many places around the country. Why? Because they’re scared of you.”

Harris called on Americans to check their voter registration, urged those not already registered to register to vote and encourages everyone to “vote early while they can.”

The former vice president is among several Democrats who could launch a 2028 presidential bid, having lost to Trump in 2024 after replacing former President Biden on the Democratic ticket.

Harris made headlines last week after suggesting that the Democratic Party “revisit” the Electoral College and be “uncompromising, and… allow for a real conversation about revisiting certain things.”

“We need to revisit the point of expanding the court to 13 justices like we have 13 District Courts,” she said at the National Urban League Conference in Nashville. “We need to revisit, if they so want, statehood for Puerto Rico and D.C.”

Harris lost the Electoral College to Trump 312-226 in 2024. Trump became the first Republican to win the popular vote in 20 years, receiving more than 2 million more votes than Harris.

She has also backed Democrats running in the midterms, last week endorsing Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed after a contentious race between the more progressive El-Sayed and Rep. Haley Stevens (D-Mich.).

The former vice president has maintained some presence on social media as well, after her 2024 campaign accounts rebranded as Headquarters in February to mobilize young voters ahead of the midterms.
