The xx, 2017 Paul R. Giunta/Getty Images The xx opened their “next chapter” Friday in Mexico City as the band performed their first show together in eight years.
Taking the stage at Mexico City’s Pepsi Center, the trio of Romy, Oliver Sim and Jamie xx delivered a 19-song setlist that drew from each of their three albums together, as well as the solo work each member has released since they last performed together in 2018.
The xx opened the show with “Crystalised” off their 2009 debut xx and performed tracks like “Islands,” “Say Something Loving,” “I Dare You,” and “Intro.”
Mid-show, each member rotated playing tracks from their solo works: Jamie xx’s “Loud Places,” Sim’s “GMT,” and Romy’s “Enjoy Your Life.” The gig closed out with a three-song encore of “Night Time,” “Sunset,” and “Infinity.”
