Keith Birmingham/MediaNews Group/Pasadena Star-News via Getty Images Seven months after legendary director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Singer, were killed, their children Jake and Romy Reiner stepped up to the plate at Dodgers Stadium to honor them.
Jake, 35, and Romy, 28, both wore jerseys of their father’s favorite baseball team with “Reiner” proudly featured on the back and threw out the first pitch during Sunday’s Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox game. (The Red Sox beat the Dodgers 8-4.)
In a tribute to his parents on Tuesday, Jake looked back at the moment and wrote in a social media post: “The @dodgers have always been a huge part of our family. My dad and I could talk baseball for hours and I truly never felt closer to him than when we’d watch games together. Dodger Stadium is a place we’d love to come to as a family.” Alongside photos taken of him and his sister on the field, he added, “Romy and I wanted to honor our mom and dad by throwing out a ceremonial first pitch for each of them. We’re grateful the Dodgers helped make this moment so special.”
