The Grammy winner will create original music for the movie, which will blend live action with CGI, according to Deadline. Star and producer Dwayne Johnson, Theo Leber, Alicia Silverstone, Tim Heidecker, Arya Parvathi, Regina Hall, Colman Domingo, Jeff Goldblum, Rachel McAdams, David Krumholtz, and Andrew Dice Clay have also signed on to the project.
The film is based on the 1976 novel of the same name by Daniel Pinkwater, a wildly prolific author of children’s and young adults’ novels. Safdie wrote the film’s script based on Pinkwater’s work and Lizard Music is set to roll out in theaters on Dec. 25, 2027.
Per Deadline, the film will chronicle the madcap adventures of a boy named Leber who discovers a late-night broadcast of lizards playing unearthly music. He joins up with an eccentric old man nicknamed the Chicken Man and his confidante, an octogenarian chicken named Claudia, as they nose around the universe for answers.
