Gerwyn Price has become only the second player to reach double figures on the European Tour after winning the Grand Prix in Germany.

The former world champion beat Ross Smith 8-6 in the final at the Glaspalast in Sindelfingen to win the 10th European Tour title of his career.

"I've been in the PDC for 12 years now, so less than one a year on average isn't very good," joked 41-year-old Price.

The Welsh number two beat Dave Chisnall, Chris Dobey, Martin Schindler and Wessel Nijman on the way to a final which he clinched with 14-dart hold.

"I was 3-0 up, then 4-3 down, and Ross started smashing the trebles in for fun. I was hanging on and hoping I got more opportunities, and I did," said Price, who lost in the final on his only other appearance on the circuit this year.

"I was just struggling to get over the winning line. I lost in the last European Tour final that I played in," he added.

"Thankfully I won this one, and hopefully it will give me a bit of confidence going forward."

The only other player to reach double figures for trophies won on the European Tour is Dutchman Michael van Gerwen.
