Pink on Sept. 17, 2025 in New York City. Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images Pink will be hosting the 79th Tony Awards this summer. The move is a surprising decision by organizers, given that hosts chosen for the role are often Broadway veterans — Cynthia Erivo hosted last year’s ceremony.
The Grammy winner poked fun at the unexpected move in a playful Instagram video announcing the news. The clip features the Pink sneaking onto a Broadway show dressed as a 1920s flapper. Before she is politely escorted away, the singer manages to briefly step onto the stage and declares, “Now, I’ve been on Broadway. Now, I can host the Tonys.”
In her caption for the post, Pink wrote, “When I was asked to host @thetonyawards, my first question was — don’t you need to have been on Broadway for this? So I went ahead and fixed that. Kind of. And now I’m hosting the Tony Awards!!” She added, “The Broadway community is the hardest working in showbiz. They show up every single night, sometimes twice, and make absolute magic. I cannot wait to celebrate them all with you.”
